I'm Hamish ( Ngati Kuia - Te Waipounamu )

Flying Saucer (Est. 2007) is an independently owned Creative Agency that began its life with one awesome client.

Over time the business grew into a team of 12 great people working with clients across Aotearoa on hundreds of projects.   We gained our chops in video production and photography, both things I love.  As time progressed clients started asking for more: more strategy, more thinking, more project types, more writing, more reporting. 

In 2020 I moved  Tairāwhiti - Gisborne seeking a change of pace for the whanau, and the opportunity to bring my knowledge and experience into a community setting.

Some people are right-brained, some people are left-brained, I seemed to have been given a bit of both alongside a healthy side serving of curiosity.

I’m part storyteller, part rational analytic who loves to find clarity.  I absorb information and boil it down into comms gems.

Alongside my communications and marketing nouse, I’ve been running businesses for the last 25 odd years, through the ups and downs, rounds and about. This has provided me with a healthy dose of humility and values that I abide by.  

I've seen plenty of changes within the industry and now AI.  It scared the heck out of me to start.  Now I enjoy the capability it brings: working faster and smarter, delivering more for clients at a greater level of quality.  

I work on a project basis or in a fractional capacity that could be hours or days per week.  

When not working I'm re-learning how to surf,  communing in nature, growing veges, or enjoying time with my beautiful whanau.
